'Sunny' - now retired
We are very privileged to have Sunny with us here at Mainelanders Maine Coons. She was bred by our good friend, Vicki Walls, from Vladimir Maine Coon and is a red silver classic tabby. It is fair to say that Sunny is my heart cat. She insists on sitting on my lap, or chest if something/one is already on my lap and purrs up a storm. She loves to supervise all household events and gives her opinion on most things too. She is an exceptional mother having already had 3 big healthy litters with Maverick and we are excited to see what she and Spider will produce next time she is mated. We are currently giving her a year off after 3 litters relatively close together, so she will be bred in early 2016, all going well.

Ch Mainelanders Princess Peppurr aka
'Pepper'
Pictured here at 6 months, Pepper is a black smoke with white. She is our first homebred queen. Not our biggest girl however she has a great length of tail, body and wonderful ear set. With distinctive markings and a great temperament, she is an asset to our breeding program. She has a cheeky and smoochy personality, particularly at 4am when she purrs like crazy headbutting me repeatedly wanting under the covers for a cuddle! She's not much for sitting on laps, preferring to cuddle up next to us on the sofa or in front of the fire on the sheepskin. Pepper is a firm favourite with the older cats who all seem to accept her stealing food from their dishes!! She LOVES her food, and theirs, ours and anyone else's for that matter! She also has a strange habit of licking plastic bags!?! Super playful and occasionally silly, she is a fun girl to have around.

Wakpalaluta X-P Allegetisch aka
'Ally'
Ally is a very special addition to my breeding lines as our first imported girl. She is from our dear friend Martina Roth of Wakpalaluta Maine Coons in Germany and arrived into New Zealand June 2015. Ally is a black solid tortie and is also a 2wd polydactyl. This is exciting for us as all polydactyl Maine Coons in NZ currently descend from one breeding girl imported from the USA over 8 years ago by Soozn Grindell so it was vital to get new poly lines into NZ. We are very honoured to have been trusted with this girl from Martina and it was a stressful time for all concerned when she flew here but she has settled into life downunder very very well and has quickly endeared herself to us and everyone she meets. She is extremely chirpy and chatty and loves to sit on my knee any chance she gets. She is what a called a 'knee-creeper' where you just suddenly realise she's sitting on you but don't remember for how long!

Pictured here at 8 months, Furn is a silver classic tabby, 2WD polydactyl (5,5,4,4). With a great muzzle and ear set, she is a stunning girl who produces wonderful kittens. She loves to sit near me on the sofa in the evenings and is never far from my side when I am home but she is not a high maintenance cat at all. Her coat remains silky year round requiring very little grooming and she gets on well with all the household cats. A purry, loving and attentive mother, she raises her babies confidently and without losing much condition. Her favourite toy is Da Bird, leaping high until she 'catches the birdy' and tries to take it away somewhere quiet! A sucker for treats, chicken necks are a firm favourite which she shares willingly with her babies when she thinks they are ready for them.

Furn has now been desexed (Nov 2014) and is enjoying retirement in a loving home. Furn had her heart scanned in June 2016 and showed no signs of HCM. She is also now a hefty 9.5kgs! Clearly being spoilt. :)
